Five Israeli Soldiers Die in Gaza
In an official release, the military stated: “Five soldiers from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion of the Kfir Brigade were killed in battles in the northern Gaza Strip on Monday evening, and 14 others were injured, including two seriously wounded."
At the same time, Israeli Army Radio conveyed that the event took place on Monday night while a foot patrol from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion was moving through the town of Beit Hanoun.
"The infantry soldiers were struck by a bomb placed alongside a road shortly after 10 p.m. (1900GMT) on Monday, during ground operations in Beit Hanoun.
The soldiers were operating on foot, and were not inside a vehicle,” the radio reported.
"While evacuating the injured from the blast location, armed militants launched an attack from an ambush targeting the rescue teams, causing further casualties,” the broadcast added.
“The evacuation process became difficult and extended, prompting the call for additional rescue units,” the army concluded.
